At SOFSA’s 2023 Annual Meeting, members began voting on the proposed 2023 Public Policy Platform. One priority on this platform is reinvesting in the CNY Regional Market infrastructure. Eaters and growers throughout Central New York frequent the Regional Market year-round and look forward to the range of fresh produce and artisan products sold there. It is a favorite spot of many SOFSA members and a great place to support the local food system.

The issue of the Regional Market’s aging facilities has been on SOFSA’s radar since Amanda Vitale, executive director of the Market, presented at our June Open Meeting. Since then, SOFSA members have shown their support by contributing anecdotes about their appreciation for the Regional Market and attending a site visit led by Amanda in November. SOFSA looks forward to continuing our support of the Market through advocacy work to secure funding for infrastructure repairs and improvements.
